Who am I?

My name is Mike Dahl, I'm 23 years old, I work at Sprint and sell phones, I have 2 badass brothers, parents that mean the world to me, and I'm engaged to the best chic in the world, Lauren...oh and I'm obssessed with one day becoming a professional bodybuilder.

Bodybuilding started out as just a hobby back in about...2003. But at the time I didn't call it that, it was more like, just going to the gym to workout and an afterschool social hour. When I first started I had no clue what I was doing. I'd walk in there, and basically just use every machine in the gym, leg press, fly machine, curl machine...no order, no focus on specific muscle groups, just went because I thought it seemed like a good idea. I had played baseball and been active in all range of sports the majority of my life, so I wasn't in bad shape at all, just little. I weighed about 140 pounds...tops. I think what called me to the gym was when I would do conditioning for baseball or gymnastics (yeah it sounds real lame and probably gay, but that was one sport that kicked my ass, and was definitely more challenging then majority of the sports I've played in my lfie) and I was pretty strong for my size. But it was aggrivating because outside of that, I looked like a little dude so no one could tell. Anyway, after doing this routine at the gym for about a month, I started to see results...thats all it took, I was hooked. From then on, I would spend my free time in school or at work looking up different workouts that focused on certain muscle groups, supplements to help me out, and the science behind the muscles.

From there has pretty much just become a growing obsession with it. About 3 years ago I got my American College of Sports Medicine degree and ACE certification. That was the point when I decided I wanted to start trying to get other people motivated and excited about the gym, and switched my major to Exercise Science. I wanted other people to share the same feeling I had, and watch their body change to meet their goals, whether be losing or gaining weight. Alright I tell you what this is turnign into the worlds longest auto biography...let me just cut to the point:

-I love working out
-The human body is probably one of the coolest things on the earth, mainly the muscles
-I love researching the science behind the muscles, the body, and bodybuilding.
-Dieting for competitions suck, but seems to always payoff
-I really wanna be a professional bodybuilder, I want turn my hobby into something more.
-I've competed in 2 bodybuilding competitions (Kentucky Muscle 2009/2010)
-I've yet to place in the top 5, but my next competition is Feb 2011 in Northern Ky and I plan to take first (thats my goal at least)
-Oh did I mention I'm engaged to one of the most supportive people I know? She's pretty awesome.
-Work kicks my ass and my social life really kicks my ass and seems to be my biggest struggle to stay on track

Thats about it, I'm sure more will be revealed about me as I actually start to put up legit blogs and not just long rants about myself. Im going to bed and its late, I have to be up at like 730 for work, and its thursday which means we should be slow, but chances are since I'm gonna be tired it'll be stupid busy...

BY THE WAY: this isnt just a blog about working out, because trust me as much as I wish my life just consisted of the gym, its unfortunately much more complicated then that...
